Deinonychus was one of the largest raptors. The largest individuals were nearly 10-13 feet long and may have weighed between 150-225 pounds. Deinonychus was named for it's massive claws. With the keratin sheath, the sickle claw would have been over 6 inches long. One of the most common raptors in North America and the most common raptor found so far, Deinonychus lived around 110 million years ago.
